WBKB Program
Guides
Here
are some of the first "TV Guides" ever printed - only one page long!
In
1948, WBKB was the only station broadcasting in Chicago, and only in
the evening. Here's the guide they mailed to subscribers, and it
contains some interesting KFO information.
KFO
premiered as "Junior Jamboree" on Oct 13, 1947 and, according to most
sources, did not change its name to "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" until
November of 1948 when it moved to the NBC Midwest network. But
here is a program card from January of 1948 that clearly lists it as
"Kukla, Fran and Ollie" - eleven months before the move to NBC.
Even stranger, a March 1948 card lists the show as "Junior
Jamboree." Apparently the name of the show was not consistent
until later in the year.
